Silver Valley residents in Maple Ridge may soon have the convenience of businesses just a short walk or bike ride away. The Maple Ridge council is currently reviewing a new commercial/residential development proposal on Fern Crescent.
Situated at the intersection of Fern Crescent and Balsam Street, the development occupies a vacant 0.9-hectare (2.33-acre) plot and serves as the gateway to Golden Ears Provincial Park. Its location also places it directly across from Maple Ridge Park.
The proposed project encompasses a four-storey building that combines 95 apartment units with approximately 33,400 square feet of commercial space on the ground floor. The council has reviewed architectural drawings that depict various amenities such as a cafe, restaurant, fitness center, market, and pharmacy. The applicant for the development is a numbered company.
Maple Ridge Council is processing a new commercial/residential development on Fern Crescent, which has received praise from councillors. The project aims to create a pedestrian-friendly community while preserving the natural environment. It includes a four-storey building with 95 apartment units and 33,400 square feet of commercial space. Amenities like a cafe, restaurant, fitness business, market, and pharmacy are planned. The development will have an underground parkade with 232 stalls and 54 ground-level stalls, with each residential stall equipped for EV charging. Councillors are pleased with the long-awaited project, which aligns with the area’s plans and accommodates families. Traffic concerns will be addressed through a traffic study before the second reading. Mayor Dan Ruimy called it “a great little project,” and the council approved the first reading.
