Are you new to Maple Ridge and wanting to make some friends and get to know your neighbours? Why not host a block party! Its a great way to keep your house clean but still get to know the community!
Block parties are a simple way to bring neighbours together while having fun. Gathering with neighbours provides an opportunity to connect with those in your area and help build a sense of community, create pride and spirit and to build friendships.
Guidelines:
- Ensure adequate insurance coverage for block party
- Alcohol to remain on private property.
- Be respectful of noise and amplified sound.
- Notify neighbours of the block party.
- Assess if a road closure is required and if yes, complete the required steps on the Road Closures tab.
- Ensure site is cleaned and streets are clear of debris.

Block parties can be held in a variety of locations in most residential neighbourhoods. Here are some areas to consider when planning your block party:
- Front/Back lawn – easiest option by hosting on your property
- Private complex common area– gather people outdoors in a controlled common area location in your building’s complex
- Local park – hosting a block party in a park provides an easy location that can accommodate small to large block parties based on availability. To book a park, insurance is required, along with a park rental fee. Visit the facility booking page to book a space.
- On your street – block parties on your street require safety measures to ensure public safety. See details below for details on requirements for a road closure.
